Welcome to the 2016 UANA Jr. Pan American Games!

Dear Friends,

On behalf of my colleagues on the Executive Committee of the Union Americana de Natacion, I am pleased to welcome athletes, coaches and spectators who have traveled to the beautiful city of Edmonton to participate in the UANA Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships.

UANA is pleased to return to the Kinsmen Sports Centre in Edmonton.  Athletes from all aquatic disciplines have been welcomed by the City of Edmonton and enjoyed the support of a passionate fan base for many years.  We salute the vision of the community, the endorsement of its leaders, and the tireless efforts of the volunteers.

I also extend my heartfelt thanks to Aquatics Canada, Water Polo Canada, Edmonton Events, the local and provincial authorities and the government of Canada. The local Organizing Committee can be congratulated for the meticulous planning and preparation that has taken place to organize an event of this magnitude.

The UANA Technical Synchronized Water Polo Committee has provided substantial leadership and direction, led by Roberto Cabral, Chairman; Takeshi Inoue, Vice Chairman; Manuel de Jesus, Honorary Secretary; and, Brenda Villa, Executive Committee Liaison to the UANA TWPC. Each of the members of the TWPC is extremely active in the development of Water Polo throughout the Americas.

All of the athletes competing this week have dedicated themselves not only to the pursuit of excellence but also to high standards of sportsmanship and citizenship.  I extend my congratulations to each competing athlete for your past accomplishments, and also my best wishes for great success in Edmonton.

Sincerely,

Dale Neuburger, President

Welcome from UANA President, Dale Neuburger

It is with great pleasure that Aquatics Canada welcomes you to the Jr. Pan American Championships hosted at the Kinsman Centre in sunny Edmonton, Alberta. The City of Edmonton has a rich history of hosting successful international competitions. We hope you will experience the warm western hospitality the City of Edmonton has to offer.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank UANA, Water Polo Alberta and Water Polo Canada, for their outstanding partnership with Aquatics Canada.  The sport of water polo continues to encourage the development of younger athletes by hosting these UANA Championships in different countries. This truly helps to inspire the next generation athletes to pursue excellence.

We also extend our sincere appreciation for the leadership of the local organizing committee and their many volunteers. You have worked tirelessly to organize this event and to prepare the beautiful facility that you see before you. You have all donated hundreds of hours to provide the athletes with a wonderful experience. Thank you.

To the parents, we wish to thank you for faithfully providing the time, finances and family resources to support your athlete’s commitment to the sport of water polo. Your dedication and support has allowed countries to unite through sport, competing respectfully on the field, and creating new and lasting friendships off the field.

To the referees we thank you for your efforts in ensuring that the environment in which our athletes compete represents true sport and fair play.

Sincerely,

Lisa Schott, President Aquatics Canada
